I very rarely ever write about any experience with a contractor, good or bad. So with that, let me say upfront, I have been burned a few times by shady contractors, so they don't do anything in our home unless we can watch and be sure it's what we asked for.
On 8/15/2025, at our home in Richmond, Virginia, we had contracted 50 Floors to install new flooring for our kitchen. I can honestly say we both were thoroughly impressed and amazed by the speed and precision with which the installers worked. They moved everything, cleaned up, and put everything back in just a few hours, and the floor never looked so good.
This was not the first time we have dealt with 50 Floors; it certainly won't be the last time either. If we need another floor done, I want the two guys that did this one and 50 Floors to get the job done!

Verified ReviewerWorst experience I’ve ever had with any company!
No, I will just do it myself!
So we thought 50 Floors would work for us. We were so very wrong! Our nightmare started off with Mathew the salesman/GM of the Jacksonville Florida location. He came to our home did his pitch telling us we dont need LVP just get the regular laminate its cheaper.
We picked out the flooring we wanted and date of installation and signed paperwork for financing. Mathew said that Margret the scheduler would call us to confirm the installation date. He took all of his measurements of our upstairs floor and our staircase. Then he left like he had to be somewhere.
Did review the order to make sure he got it right. A couple days later I got the confirmation email for our order and he put the wrong flooring on the order. So I reached out to him through text messages explaining that the order was wrong. Got no reply.
Then the following day he called and said he would talk to the warehouse and Margret to make sure the correct flooring was ordered. Then the next day Margret calls me to verify the installation date. While I had her on the phone I asked her what was the flooring that was on our order she said well I see they had tuscan Rowe but change it to Classic skliner which is what we chose. So we verified the the dates and I told her that they could drop the flooring off a couple days before so the flooring could get acclimated to our home temperature.
She said ok Ill let them know. That never happened. Later that week I get a call from Margret asking if we wanted to move our installation date up a day. I thought great and said sure that would be great.
Then the day before the new installation date Margret calls and tells me that the wrong flooring was ordered even after all the conversations with her and Mathew. She tells me that they have a job coming up next month for a home that is getting the same flooring as what we chose and that they could just take the flooring from that job and use it for ours but shell have to check and make sure they have enough from that job to do our flooring. She calls me back about 20 minutes later and says that they are short about 5 boxes of flooring for that job to do mine. She said she would see if their Tampa location had any they could get.
She called me back again and said they had it and they would get it.During this whole nightmare of a process I was reaching out to Mathew my so called sales representative with no reply what so ever and to this day have still not heard from him. So now I get a text message saying that my installation window went from 8:00am to 11:00am to 8:00am to 8:00pm. The installers show up around 11:00am and come inside and look at the upstairs to see what they were working with. So to make this process easier and quicker for them my wife, myself and my neighbor moved everything except for a couple mattresses and box springs downstairs.
Then one of the installers came to me and said that they didnt have enough kick plates for the staircase and quarter round for the rest of the job and that he would have to go to Homedepot to get it. They started working on pulling up the carpet and started laying the floors that were just stacked up in front of our garage outside in 95 plus degree weather. We keep our home temperature around 72 to 74 degrees and as I mentioned earlier I told them they could drop it off days ahead of time. No installers thought it would make more sense to just show up with it the same day and start installing it.
So to keep the flooring temperature similar to outside they decided to open our windows upstairs and not say anything to us about it so we could adjust our thermostat or even turn the A/C off . So half way through the day the installer foreman comes to me and says they dont have enough of the stair caps for three of the steps and that they would need to order them and come back. They said they should be in on the following Tuesday and that they would be back on Wednesday to finish up the job. So now I have three unfinished steps with ruff plywood showing.
The following day my wife is coming do an the stairs and gets snagged on this plywood and almost falls down the stairs. So Tuesday comes and I call the foreman and he says they are still not in. So I said ok and thanks for letting me know. I waited a couple more days and call him back again and again he says theyre still not in. So for a week now my wife and I are sleeping on our couch because everything is still downstairs in our living room so the floors could get acclimated to the inside temperature before we started moving things back.
And through all of this nightmare Im reaching out to Mathew and every phone number I can find for 50Floors and no response no one calls. All I get is voicemails saying someone will call me back but they dont! Then on a Friday the foreman calls and says the pieces are in so he come out and installs them. Then comes to us and tries to give us a bill for $355 and some change but cant tell us or show us what it is for.
This is the worst worst customer experience I have ever had with any company or person. I plan on sharing this nightmare with as many people and websites and news media as I possibly can to warn people away from 50 Floors!

Poor Workmanship and will not honor Installation Warranty
50 floors workmanship, business practices, and communication are so incredibly terrible that I would advise any homeowner to run FAR away rather than doing business with 50 Floor. I am sharing our experience to warn fellow homeowners.
Their national manager- Dana Mason as well as the SCG branch manager- Broc Stanley, do not care about appearance or quality workmanship and 50 floor installation warranty is entirely worthless. They started installation in October but did not finish installation until February. Their subcontractors, SCG Surfaces Construction Group, spoke very little if any English, did not show up when they were supposed to (total no-show or several days later), had to glue down my floating floor near the stairs because they misaligned the board and had to cut it to fit rather than locking it in place, broke our bed frame when moving it (and neglected to tell us about the damage), and it was discovered that they did not abide by basic industry and manufacture installation standards when they left our concrete subfloor largely exposed with missing vapor barrier in several large areas. This allowed moisture from the concrete to destroy our new flooring in a few months time, warping and cupping the boards.
50 floor was contacted, but did not take responsibility for the damaged flooring and stated that they would not be assisting us with removal or replacement. We were forced to remove this damaged flooring ourselves, discovering large areas that were missing any vapor barrier, leaving the boards exposed to moisture from the concrete. 50 floor has yet to honor their one year workmanship guarantee and has had no explanation for a lack of barrier in place. Was it due to lack of employee training, laziness, cutting corners on cost?
They have no explanation. We have plenty of photo and video evidence of the patchy scarce pieces that were thrown down, as well as a letter from an independent contracting group that confirms the damage is due to a missing vapor barrier, and yet they have not acknowledged their mistake or committed to installing our floor properly. We are left without flooring in half of our home due to their careless installation practices, only months after paying for whole home flooring installation.
The national manager, Dana Mason, suggested that we contact our insurance to cover their damage, but our insurance has refused to cover damage that they agree is caused by poor workmanship. To say this is devastating for our family and our home is an understatement.
Photos included of vapor barrier that is meant to be wall to wall and overlapping, glued in and cracking floor plank, and broken furniture.

Scheduled day for 05/02/2025, I get a call from the scheduling department (1 hour); they will reschedule me for the next day. To make a long story short, I have been scheduled 4 times.
Customer service just lies, after lies. They never answer the phone. My floors were installed on Thursday. The installer's name, Roger, did an excellent job.
Roger was the only one who was true with me. Roger explained what his team would be doing and asked if I had any questions. The installation service was very professional. The scheduling service for the 50th floors is really bad.
I had a friend compliment me on the floors.
I told her the installer and his team are good, but you may have problems with customer service.
Thank you

Verified ReviewerA total scam. False advertising
Go to Home Depot. You will actually get not only better customer service but a lot better deal.
50 floor up charges their product tremendously. Their Memorial Day promotion for half off and free install was more than Home Depot at full price. To be honest it was almost double the full price of Home Depot.
If that is half off, then something isn’t right. We have reached out to them numerous times and get the run around every time.
We contacted them about the current promotion that they were having for Memorial Day. Last week we had them out to our house to measure and get a quote. The current deal was 50% off and free installation. Their quote was astronomically high (like 200% mark up).
I always do my research and know the products and rough cost of things to have a general idea of what we would be paying. When we were told that it was going to cost $8,000.00 we quickly asked is that with the current promotion? Their sales rep said yes. So apparently if we were paying full price then, it would cost us nearly $16,000.00 plus install?
He said that it would. That amount for a 30oz medium grade carpet would cost over $11 a square foot. I asked to make sure that he didnt add on 50% as the cost didnt add up right. He stated, well we calculate it a little differently.
This was the first red flag. We told him that we appreciate his time and that we were going to get our carpet elsewhere. He stated, well let me call my manager and see if he can work out a better deal. Not even 2 minutes go by and he said that he could do it for $5,500 (second red flag that they could drop it that quick when they were supposedly already selling it for half off.).
The third red flag was when he said that the deal was only good while he was onsite, however he would extend it to 24 hrs. After he left we reached out to the company again to make sure that he had ran the numbers correctly. A few days later we got a phone call from them and they did state that they were sorry that we werent going to go with them and how could they improve. Never was there a mention about the price or anything.
However by this point, I wouldnt want to do any business with a company that is extremely shady. My wife and I both wondered how many elderly people have been scammed this bad by them. Its so sad, but felt that everyone should do their research and be careful prior to doing any business with this company.
We have gotten another quote from another company that we will be going with. Their quote didnt have a sale going on, but still beat 50 floors quote with the supposed 50% off and even the managers deal.
Update: Per their request, I have reached back out to them again.
I was told that all of their review personnel were busy and that they would call me back and 6 hours later, I still havent gotten a call back. I then realized that their response to this review was just a generic response (another red flag). Looking at their response, they said that there was other costs that were associated with the install. So I guess when you state that you are giving free installation, that you really arent since there is other fees?
Once again another red flag. I would hate to imagine what their warranty would be if they arent willing to answer negative reviews.
User's recommendation: Go to Home Depot or other local shop
Late Service
We scheduled an installation for 8:00-10:00 morning window. The schedular stated that was the earliest to book a time.
On the day of installation, we were contacted that due to rain/traffic it would be closer to 9:30-10:30 window frame for the installers to show up. By 12:00 we called 50 Floors to find out what was going on. They replied that the installer would call us back. Jose called and said he would be here at 1:00 when he finishes his other job.
So our 8:00 first job of the day start window has been pushed off to 1:00 at the soonest due to another job.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Extremely Disappointed
After several discussions, 50 Floors did send the proper crew to do our floors, and I must say that they did do a very good job. Thank you to Jorge and the rest of the crew.
We were told that the furniture, that was SEEN by the salesman, would be moved. We moved everything else that could've been in the way as so instructed by 50 Floor, so on the scheduled day, two men were sent, to my surprise, because I was told that it would be 3or 4 guys.
I myself do not know anyone that has toy furniture. We have real full size bedroom sets. These two men looked at my furniture, called the manager to say they were not doing the job, and without letting me know.....just left. Where is the professionalism in that or that of the company that could not send another crew.
Now we are told that it will be tomorrow.
Does anyone care the condition we are living in now? This is horrible!
Worst ever
As I see my post is not showing It Took 2 weeks to finish. Never showed up.
Stove and regf. moved to dining room And they didn't come back. Talked with Tim in Nashville said he will com. something for everything we when threw Never happen.
And no one every call or gave a ***. Just lies. What happen 50 floors ! The only person that was good was the salesman, boy were we fooled.
And my dining room floor is not level as it was before. Took all my dresser drawers out and said you have to ut them back in. The salesman looks like a fool. As of July 15 I will post this ever were I can.
I would hate for someone else to spend this kind of money and get screwed. And I still have to do the other half of my house.

Consider Using a Different Company
My wife and I wanted to have the carpets in our home replaced and the tile/laminate replaced with hardwood. The total bill came to $22k.
After deciding to go with 50 Floor out of the Raleigh/Durham, NC area, I wish my wife and I would have looked elsewhere. Not once, but twice, the wood we chose (Mullican, 3/4" planks) ended up being of such poor quality, that it simply COULD NOT be installed without mangling it and stapling/nailing it to the ground with multiple nails/staples inside the board, not at the tongue and groove.
To their credit, the General Manager did come out to our house to look at the situation both times, and even called in one of the reps from the flooring manufacturer itself to look at the sub-par product, from which (surprisingly) he "could not determine what was wrong." Suffice to say, the first batch of wood was cupped (bowed in towards the center) so hard, it looked like wooden wave-tops across my living room, and walking on it in bare feet actually caused pain. The next batch the wood slid smoothly between the tongue and groove (there should be some friction to ensure the boards stay together) and creaked hard.
When I approached the general manager to inquire how he wanted to go about and try to keep my business, after failing to provide a product of merit, while my family and I had been living on our sub-flooring for almost 3 weeks, they offered a paltry discount to our $22k investment in their company.
The lack of respect and good business practices is indicative of greater issues that likely exist in their organization.
Other issues:
1. Terrible customer service at their operations center.
2. When the second batch of wood went awry, they wanted to jump in and start the carpet installation, so they could justify that expense, even though they said it was their company model to do the hardwood first, then the carpet and then the transitions.
3. In the removal of my old carpet and tiles, the crew severely damaged our baseboards all over the house. I had to get an independent contractor to quote me for the damage to prime and replace them all, 14 in total. (See pictures below) We sent them a formal termination of agreement letter and requested remuneration for the damage done to our home by their employees, worth $400. To date, they have only refunded our initial 50%/half-down payment.
Look elsewhere, and price check. We found a better deal with better products and a better experience. The fact that they come to you is nice, but it is not worth the hassle.
Carpet installation
I am located in Ocala Fl.the salesman lied about carpeting telling me there would be no seams in my installation , doing 2 bedrooms , but I ended up with 3 . they installed the carpet like a puzzle , putting seams at 3 feet from wall then another 8 feet from that and another at the closet.
it 's like they were trying to use *** little carpet as humanly possible . was not what i payed for . they send a repair person out but what could he do ?
I wouldn t waste the money with this company . there are to many good company's out there to waste your time and money on 50 floors

Deceitful advertising
i had a sales rep for 50 Floor out to my home today. They base their prices on an algorithm and not a per sq ft pricing.
Their price was 262.5% more than the local flooring stores for just the material since they advertise there is no installation charge. What?? When questioned the salesman called his boss who lowered the price $10,000.00 without any hesitation to lock in the deal. I asked the salesman to leave and he told me that most people he deals with are not educated enough to realize they are being suckered into a lie.
What is the deal??? Run as fast as you can from this fraudulent company.
50 Floor Laminate Installation Review from Terrell, Texas
The same as most of the customers who are complaining. Buckling of the floor in less than one week after instalation.
They failed to install 2 closets, the installer was a *** who felt it was my duty to move the furniture, which my daughter and i did move a lot. He refused to start until i finally had to call the office. I wish i had never heard of 50-floor. I finally had to take them to court, the judge awarded me the judgement, which has never been paid.
They called me dishonest, apparently felt the judge was dishonest, and because i did not call them personally to tell them i had filed a claim. I had to serve them 3 times to three 3 different locations before getting them served. I was not supposed to notify them, the papers that served them told them of the claim. The general manager was the last of the 4 people who inspected the damaged materials.
Had the floor not buckled it still would have been inferior materials. When i clean the floors i spend about 3 hours cleaning them, of course i have to vacuum, i mop, i use a dust mop. I should be able to clean with a dust mop, with a damp mop only one time a month. I followed the advice of justin who is the installation manager on how to clean.
I am 74 years old and i have arthritis. At that time i noticed swelling in my abdomen, learning it was a hernia having surgery for that problem. I am not saying the cleaning methods caused it but i think it exacerbated the growth of it. I would never have gone to the media had they done what they should have.
I know now that they overcharged me. The laminate is very thin, and after checking with Home Depot and what they had that was less than 50-floor charged.
There was a great difference in the quality of their laminate compared to 50-floor's materials. I only want them to do the right thing and i can get over the situation.

What a coincidence. A 5-star impeccable installation just 4 days after a customer had major issues with this company.
Maybe you can go to their post dated August 11 and share company contact information so they can get some help. Or just comment with it to your post. All the negative reviewers here that result in a 1.9/5 poor rating may be interested. Or not.
I have a feeling another glorious 5-star review is imminent.
PS. Any potential consumer do your own online research here and across multiple sites.
Listen you. Stop trying to make our business look bad.
We are brilliant at everything we do and our customers love us.
We even get sent Christmas cards from customers saying thank you and we are thinking of you this Christmas. Fake news from you.
We were voted the best company in the US to work for in 2019, 2023 and 2025. I bet you don't even work. Your some homeless dude that was kicked out of his mom's house.
Actually 2019/25 was Bain and Company and 2023 was Fairway Mortgage Corp. for best companies to work for. BTW it’s “you’re” not “your”.
Just putting information out there. I never used you nor wrote the August 11 complaint.
What is amazing is that you CLAIM to be the business yet don’t have an account on this site.
And in the few hours since my comment (and your busy day) you somehow managed to see it to respond. #triggered
